On Wednesday 24 September 2025, the SHE Group was honoured to be part of the very first SHE Cup — an inspiring new sporting tradition between Fahan School and St Michael’s Collegiate School.
The day saw two spirited football matches played between Year 7/8 and Year 9/10 teams, with Fahan taking out the Year 7/8 match and Collegiate securing the win in the Year 9/10 game. Both contests showcased wonderful displays of talent, teamwork and community spirit, marking the beginning of what is hoped will become an annual event celebrating courage, resilience and friendship.
A highlight of the day was the presentation of the SHE Shines Medals, awarded to the players who best demonstrated exceptional bravery and character on the field. Congratulations to Milla Gorringe (Fahan) and Stella Moore (Collegiate), who received the medals in memory of Jo Harris — a beloved member of the SHE community whose courageous spirit continues to inspire many. It was especially meaningful to have Jo’s son, Sam Harris, present the awards in her honour — a beautiful tribute to his mum’s legacy.

SHE spokesperson Alex Norris said the event represented much more than a game of football.
“The SHE Cup is about empowering young women to play with courage, resilience and character. The SHE Shines Medal is a fitting tribute to Jo’s legacy and the values she embodied. We are so grateful to Fahan and Collegiate for embracing this initiative — they are helping shine a light on women’s health and the importance of courage in the face of challenge.”
In support of women’s health, players made gold-coin donations and proudly wore teal socks and hair ribbons, raising awareness and funds for gynaecological cancer.
A spokesperson from Fahan School said the school was proud to support the initiative:
“As a girls’ school, we are aware of the need to raise awareness and support for Tasmanians suffering from gynaecological cancers. Playing the SHE Cup against Collegiate, now and into the future, provides a great opportunity to promote awareness and support for this important cause.”
The SHE Group extends heartfelt thanks to both schools for their enthusiasm and commitment to women’s health. The success of the inaugural event has laid the foundation for a meaningful new tradition — one that celebrates courage, compassion, and the power of young women coming together for good.
