On Friday 20 June, over 20 SHE volunteers gathered in Hobart to assemble 80 refreshed SHE Care Packs — ready to be delivered to women across Tasmania recently diagnosed with gynaecological cancers.

The packing day brought together passionate community members who responded to a volunteer callout on social media, eager to lend their time and support to a deeply meaningful initiative.

“The response has been incredible,” said SHE Chair, Scott Harris. “It’s a powerful show of grassroots support for women going through one of the toughest times of their lives.”

Each SHE Care Pack includes a curated selection of comfort and wellness items designed to ease the emotional and physical challenges of treatment — from herbal tea and soothing skincare, to journals, heat packs and specialist oral care. A standout item this year is the Teal Face Cloth, handmade by generous knitters and crocheters from across Australia, as part of a heartfelt campaign led by local Hobart store Lily & Dot.

“We set a goal of 80 cloths,” said Harris, “and we received nearly 300. The love and care behind every donation is felt in every pack.”

To date, over 100 SHE Care Packs have been distributed to hospitals and cancer centres throughout the state. With this new batch, SHE aims to expand its reach to the North of Tasmania for the first time — ensuring even more women receive the comfort, dignity, and support they deserve during their cancer journey.
