Hobart brothers Sam and Luke Harris have completed an extraordinary 75-day challenge in honour of their mum, Jo Harris, raising vital funds and awareness for women impacted by gynaecological cancer.
The challenge culminated on Saturday when Sam ran a full marathon through Hobart, covering 42 kilometres from Sandy Bay to Claremont and back, marking the finish line of an inspiring journey that tested both physical and mental endurance.
Over the past 75 days, Sam and Luke committed themselves to the internationally recognised 75 Hard program, which requires participants to complete two workouts every day, follow a strict nutrition plan, avoid alcohol, and maintain unwavering discipline regardless of weather or circumstance.
For the brothers, however, this challenge was about far more than fitness.
They undertook the journey in memory of their beloved mum, Jo Harris, who passed away from ovarian cancer in 2023.
“This has been about doing something difficult for a cause that matters deeply to our family,” said Sam.
“The last 75 days have been challenging, but it’s nothing compared to what women and families experience when facing a cancer diagnosis. Finishing with a marathon felt like the right way to honour Mum and raise awareness for a cause that means so much to us.”
The brothers launched the Sam and Luke’s 75 for SHE fundraising campaign to support the work of the SHE Foundation, helping women and families affected by gynaecological cancers across Tasmania. Through the generosity of friends, family and the broader community, the campaign has already raised thousands of dollars toward its fundraising goal.

SHE Foundation Chair Scott Harris, Jo’s husband and Sam and Luke’s father, said the fundraiser highlights both the personal impact of gynaecological cancer and the importance of building stronger support services for women and families.
“Jo’s experience showed us firsthand how much support is needed beyond treatment,” Scott said.
“While this fundraiser is deeply personal for our family, it also reflects why SHE Foundation exists—to ensure women facing gynaecological cancer have access to practical support, connection, information and care when they need it most.”
Funds raised through the campaign will help advance SHE Foundation’s mission to improve outcomes for Tasmanian women affected by gynaecological cancers and support the development of the SHE Wellness Centre—a dedicated wellness and support hub for people impacted by cancer and their loved ones.
The SHE Foundation extends its heartfelt thanks to Sam and Luke for their incredible commitment, determination and advocacy, and to everyone who has supported the campaign along the way.
Their efforts are a powerful reminder that every step taken, every kilometre run and every dollar raised helps create a stronger future for women and families facing gynaecological cancer.
Congratulations, Sam and Luke, on an extraordinary achievement and thank you for turning your grief into hope for others.
