Workshop 1

Bump/Grind/ & Shimmy/Shake Teaser Class

Bump & Grind and Shimmy & Shake are the two fundamentals of burlesque dancing. Bump and grind referred to the seductive walk of burlesque performers, which contained a lot of hip action. This class will also teach your body to dip, roll, wind, and shimmy and combine it all together in a nice little routine you can show off at home.

Time: 3-4:30pm Saturday 13th of February

Place:  Hobart Dance Academy, 3 Federal St, North Hobart

Workshop will involve:

• Introduction & warm up including a glass of champagne on arrival
• Fundamentals & basics of Bump & Grind
• Fundamentals & basics of Shimmy & Shake
• Short routine to take home and wow your significant other

* This course will come with a free feather boa to take home.

Workshop 2

Glove Peel & Tease Taster Class

Gloves… without these items, our hands are just plain, boring old hands! We see our hands everyday, but the minute you put a glove on and peel it off slowly on stage, something magical happens… Our hands are transformed into objects of desire; the crowd holds their breath as you peel off the glove and then gasps and whoops when the flesh is revealed. About the artist:

Loulou is a seasoned starlet of the Tasmanian performance scene. She has performed with Midnight Cabaret, Femfest, Fringe at the Edge of the world, Devil’s burlesque academy and is a regular on the QT Cabaret stage. Loulou started learning the art of burlesque in 2012 and loves to be on the stage.

In 2017 she won the Tasmanian section of Burlesque Idol and represented Tasmania in the Grand Final in Sydney, where the performance attire she designed and made, won a trophy for best costume.   She likes to experiment with other art forms including drag and clowning, and incorporates these elements into her burlesque to create unique and sometimes confronting performances.   Loulou has put her burlesque knowledge to use as a judge in The Apprentease 2020 and cannot wait to be part of the next show in 2021.

Graduating last year with first class honours in her Bachelor of Fine arts, Loulou has an exceptional understanding of stage performance and performance art and designs and makes her own eccentric costumes.

LouLou also makes and sells jewellery and the best pasties in Tasmania!  Loulou believes that burlesque is for all shapes, sizes and genders and is working towards creating a more inclusive and loving burlesque environment here in Tasmania.
